This is actually the deluxe version not the original 1999 release of the game because the original gave me too much trouble but it is mostly the same game anyway just with updated graphics and the addon content included. There are also things that have been removed like certain pictures and symbols but I installed a mod that restores that. Oh and the infamous "clone soldiers" where everyone has the same face instead of using their unique face textures from the portraits.

I used to play this back in the late 90s over my 28.8k modem and then my blazing fast 56k modem and it used to amp me up so much when playing people online because I never wanted to lose. Talk about some sweaty palms during those matches! I remember I used to be ranked pretty well at one point, I believe I cracked the top ten, but this was also probably from like 500 users back then haha. I loved using the three axis trick to speed up movements when others weren't aware of it yet. God that seems like a lifetime ago...now after everything you have to get done in life you have an hour or two to relax every day and that goes by quickly too. Kids, when your parents say enjoy your time being a kid, listen to them.

Playing multiplayer locally in this game was so crazy then. Imagine being in the Philippines and being completely inlove with this game. 6 of us would play and have random dudes in the computer shop play along with us kids. The son of the computer shop absolutely wrecked us all. Imagine having a computer shop near your school and you're the son of the owner. That kid was on another level and ruined our games haha Nice to see what Descent was like for them in other countries. I didn't have the luxury to be able to exchange messages with its dev since I was in the Philippines at the time.

When I played, I was 9 years old. I thought that it was a landlord game and it was really hard. Always losing. And the families were really strange.
